YOUTH - 2 JANUARY 2006
My humble pranams to the Lotus Feet of Swami.
Sai Ram uncles aunties gurus brothers and sisters. Happy New Year to all of you!! I’m Sukanyaa from Group 4 and my topic for today is YOUTH!
Wealth once lost can be regained;
A lost friend can be retraced;
A lost land can be recovered;
BUT,
We cannot get the lost youth!
- Sai Kulvanth Mandap on 16-7-1997
The prosperity and well being of the world depend on the conduct of the youth. Only when the conduct is good, the world can have an ideal future. Age span of 16-30 is very crucial. During this period if the tonic of unselfish service is administered to the mind, life’s mission is fulfilled.
We at this age of tenderness, which can be bent in any side of the life, moving around most of the time with our friends or colleagues, than with our parents. The group is the one makes our identity.
When we move with the group of lair of cruel habits, we will soon become a part of them and ruin our life. The examples can be seen in everyday life and those in newspapers. The agony of parents are also known very clearly.
Our government’s new cabinet is full of youths. The great China has a new young chief. In many other fields also lots of young entrepreneurs are performing well. All this shows the strength of youth, which can make things happen.
In fact, the youth of Sai Center, Katong are fortunate to be in the midst of our spiritual elders to guide us. The elders set us onto the path of open-mindedness, creativity and innovation. With their encouragement and guidance, I am here today.
If free from arrogance, you are loved
If free from anger, you are free of sorrow
If free from desires, you gain wealth
If free from greed, you become happy
- Sai Kulvanth Mandap on 17-7-1997
Greed makes man unhappy and miserable. “GREED”, isn’t it reminding you of some thing from Swami’s 9 codes of conduct. Yes, COD – The last code - Ceiling on desires. I practice this regularly by not wasting the food, buy things that I need and try to reuse, reduce and recycle.
But many youths are wasting a good deal of their life, without realizing the preciousness of it. With the Blessing of Swami, we are transforming all our actions into sacred duties and experiencing the love of the Divine.
Sage Vivekananda said: “Give me ten youths who are pure and perfect. I can change the whole world”. Moreover, Swami says, “I can bring about transformation even with one truly perfect youth”.
Any number of zeros placed alongside the figure of one will carry value in many folds.
With Swami’s Grace, we the youth of today, should practice good values to become the future leaders of tomorrow.
Shall We??
Jai Sai Ram
