START EARLY, DRIVE SLOWLY, REACH SAFELY - 5 APRIL 2004

Sai Ram uncles, aunties, brothers, sisters and gurus. My name is Varisha and I am from Group 3. I am here to share with you one of Swami's very famous quotes 'Start Early, Drive Slowly, Reach Safely'. Now, what does this mean? Does this quote only relate to driving? No! There is much more to it than that. Let me explain.

Well, when I think of the first section of the quote, 'start early', the very first thought that comes to my mind is the issue of time. People often start late. They do not see the importance of starting early. That is why they are always in a rush. Because they hurry, they worry and end up 'in a curry' which means a complete mess!!!! If you start early, you will be able to plan and organize yourself much better. You will also be well prepared and equipped and you are very likely to accomplish whatever you want.

And now, let's move on to the next section, 'drive slowly'. This step will be easy for you if you start early. When you are late, you tend to panic and when you panic, something wrong is likely to happen. If you pace your time well, there is a higher chance of enjoyment and safety. You will also be able to focus better. A common phrase used by others is 'easy going does the trick'.

Lastly, the third section, 'reach safely'. When you reach safely, you will feel proud of yourself. It is like achieving a goal. And how can you reach safely? It is only by starting early and driving slowly. Another phrase that comes to my mind is 'slow and steady wins the race!'

As mentioned above, this quote does not only apply to driving but it is related to every single aspect in our lives. It can be related to for example, planning for a trip or even preparing for your exams. To think of it, why has Swami introduced EHV? EHV has been introduced so that we, as children can be brought to this good path from a very young age. And as we grow, we build on to this foundation and finally, become perfect examples to the rest of the world. Therefore, lets all practice this quote of Swami's, "start early, drive slowly, reach safely".
