SATCHITANANDA - 14 FEBRUARY 2005
My humble Pranams at the Lotus Feet of our Dearest and ever-loving Swami. Sai Ram uncles, aunties, gurus, brothers and sisters.
My name is Jasmine Mahboobani and I am from group 3.
Today, I will be speaking on ‘Satchitananda’.
When my SSEHV Guru asked me to speak on this topic, I asked myself, where can I start explaining what exactly is ‘Satchitananda’ in simple words.
‘Sath’ means Being, which is eternal and unchanging. ‘Sath’ can be compared to sugar which is sweet by itself and when mixed with anything remains sweet.
‘Chit’ is consciousness which can be compared to water. When sugar is added to water, neither of them remains in its true form but a new combination is formed – sugar syrup.
‘Ananda’ is Divine Bliss. Many people feel that bliss is found only in marriage or highly paid jobs but this not true! One should search for happiness within ourselves, not in external objects or relationships. We must remember that everlasting happiness is in having oneness with the Divine. Worldly pleasure only gives us temporary happiness. Satchitananda is inside us and not outside.
To summarize,
a) THE DESIRE TO LIVE A DAY MORE - is SAT.
b) THE DESIRE TO KNOW - is CHIT.
c) THE DESIRE TO BE HAPPY - is ANANDA
