SAFFRON' s primary purpose is to shower love on those
in need by listening and encouraging them on a long
term basis (years). This is the toughest aspect of any
service to the needy. This is the area, which all other
types of organisations usually do not provide on a consistent
basis due to volunteers losing interest and lack of
patience. Only because of Swami's teachings being put
in practise can a guardian family sustain enthusiasam
and interest in helping a needy family.
SAFFRON's secondary purpose is to tie the families
up with help already being provided by the government
and other organisations. Swami gives food, water and
medical aid without any charges to the needy. We thus
should avoid allowing families to suffer from the lack
of any of these 3 areas. Thus under circumstances where
the organisations in Singapore cannot provide help in
these 3 areas for a specific needy family, then the
SAFFRON programme should provide aid - which leads to
Narayana Seva etc.
Guardian Family: As the name suggests,
a guardian family adopts a needy family, and helps
them with their problems and issues. No monetory help
is required. As a guardian family, you are required
to give moral support to the families, and also link
them to the correct sources of aid (eg. SINDA).
Human Resource: Help organize and
plan workshops for both, the needy families as well
as the guardian families.
Logistics: Arrange and transport
the different requirements, such as, furniture, books,
computers, etc. needed by the needy families
